IAS Exam Subjects

There are three rounds in IAS selection process those are:

  • Preliminary examinations
  • Main examination
  • Interview

Preliminary examination:

This exam is held in the month of May or June. It is an objective type exam that is multiple choice questions. This exam contains two papers each 2hrs duration. One is General studies and the other one is Optional subject. The results will be declared in the month of July or August.

    Main examination:

    This exam will take place in the month of October or November. This exam contains nine papers and duration of the each paper is 3hrs. The exam process is having two language papers: any one of the Indian language and one 10th Standard English. One essay, which is on GK as well as Current Affairs. Two general studies papers. Two optional subjects papers that are two papers on optional subject-1 and two papers on optional subject-2.
